Public Policy/Advocacy Work Group
  The Public Policy/Advocacy Work Group provides guidance regarding issues surrounding asthma, including, but not limited to, environmental policy, school policy, and health policy. They also advocate for policies that benefit those with asthma and their families, and provide guidance in conducting advocacy to the local asthma coalitions.

Surveillance and Evaluation Work Group
  The Surveillance and Evaluation Work Group monitors and evaluates the burden of asthma in Virginia, to include morbidity, mortality, and prevalence. The work group also develops and evaluates products and programs related to surveillance data.
 
 
Education and Training Work Group
  The Education and Training Work Group coordinates, develops, and provides education and training as identified by VAC. Subcommittees can include Asthma Summit Subcommittee, Asthma Educator Institute Subcommittee, and other education opportunities as identified.
 
  • Asthma Action Plan - Asthma Action Plans assist you and your child in managing their asthma. Action Plans are based on your child's "personal best" peak flow readings and "zones" of lung function. They allow you and your child to manage most asthma exacerbations as well as assist you in predicting a possible change in your child's asthma status.
 
  • Asthma Educator Institute - The American Lung Association has developed the Asthma Educator Institute, a preparatory course for those qualified to take the National Asthma Educator Certification Examination sponsored by the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB).
 
  • Asthma Summit - The meeting is open for anyone concerned with controlling Asthma. Meet and hear from health professionals and your local asthma coalition to brainstorm and prioritize solutions to reduce the burden of asthma throughout Virginia. Click here to download 2007 brochure.
 
Communication/Public Relations Work Group
  The Communication and Public Relations Work Group develops and coordinates marketing and media materials and information related to asthma. This workgroup is also responsible for updating and maintaining the VAC website.
